Another Totally Free Affiliate Marketing Method

Updated Aug. 24th, 2014.

In this method we will utilize the power of social media to generate free traffic to an affiliate offer.

Facebook and hubpages are the two sites we will be using to make affiliate commission. First of all go to any affiliate network other than Clickbank and pick a really good product. CPA offers are mostly low value and are not going to work with this method. I prefer info products because there are really high value ones. In this example I’ll take a baby sign language product, find one on Amazon.com.

Go to hubpages.com and build a hub about the product. Vendors/authors are usually OK with you using their images to promote their products, but just to be safe ask first. Make the first image in the introduction module an appealing one (don’t use a box or book cover image for this matter).

The second step is build  a fan page about the same subject. In our example that will be baby sign language. Start posting about the subject. Include some news, videos, and some stories and make your most recent post a Facebook-like to your hub (visit your hub and you’ll find the Facebook-logo button, click it and write something in the post then click “post”).

Now while on Facebook click down arrow next to the “home” tap at the top right, and from the menu choose to use Facebook as your new fanpage.

Time to get some traffic. Go to the search box of Facebook and search the most obvious term related to your product, in our example it will be “baby”. Go to those fanpages one by one and browse their most recent posts, like the ones you really like and leave a genuine comment. Now that you are using Facebook as ur fanpage, the comments that you leave will be from your “baby sign language” fanpage. Some will go to your fanpage to see who left this comment (if they like it) and some of them will probably like your page. And this is the beginning of the social marketing “virus”. Your page will show on their profile and might also grab the attention of their friends.

It is extremely important that you do two things right from the beginning:

1. When you build your fanpage do your research and only post things that provide a really high value to your fans.

2. When you leave a comment on someone else’s fanpage leave a high value comment. Never ever ask for likes or visits.

To start seeing results you need a couple hundred fans, and to get there you need to post on you fanpage daily, visit related fanpages and leave genuine high value comments for at least 2 hours every day. The more work you put in this method the faster you’ll reach your goal.

Now please note that you can not link to an Amazon product straight from your fan page (it would have been easier and more converting than having a hubpage in the middle). The reason is that at Amazon associate program they don’t like and could close your account.

I have a technique that I am using to direct-link on Facebook to clickbank (which is my favourite affiliate network), but it costs me $500 (one time). It’s worth it because my conversion rate increases dramatically over using a landing page of any kind and they pay up to 75% commission as opposed to Amazon’s 4-8%, but it won’t be free then .. now would it?

I hope this method works for you and you start making money online for free as an affiliate.

100% Free Method to Make Money Online

This post might be the most important one so far on Marketing Online 101 because it will outline and explain in some details how someone without any marketing experience or budget can use the free tools on the Internet to generate a steadily growing income on the Internet. This is a 100% free method to make money online, I am not charging for it and the whole process doesn’t involve paying for anything.

First I’ll explain the theory about this idea. There are 4 factors involved in this theory:

1. With almost all of the affiliates under the sun had their Google Adwords accounts suspended, Google is left with corporate companies that use Google ads to build a brand awareness rather than direct response. These companies care only about the eyeballs that will see their ads and nothing else. And they have the budget to spend on those ads. This also means that they don’t care about the keywords or your site content except from the legal point of view.

2. The way taught on Clickbank ebooks and on forums and blogs is that the best way to make money with a blog is to build it around a certain topic and be extremely targeted. This is good for direct response marketing, but not for this method. In this method your main focus is to build a blog around anything and get tons of traffic to that blog.

3. Google provides the tools that you can use to know what is it that people are searching for right now, so that you write about it and get exposure from this buzz to your blog, on which you’ll be posting adsense ads as a starter, later you’ll switch to other advertising platforms so that you don’t get under Google’s mercy.

4. People are people, and people treat an authority person in a different way than treating a friend. With authority people get their needs done and they don’t want to know that authority person anymore because of the negative feeling they’ll have as being inferior to that authority person. With friends, on the other hand, people tend to be loyal to their friends, and they visit and go out together without holding anything back. We want people to feel that the person behind this blog is a friend, not an authority. This can get them to come back, especially if they agree with your views.

So what we need to do is to get you a personal blog, then you need to blog about what people are searching for right now from your own personal point of view. Get your blog exposed to the searchers. Install Google Adsense on your blog and and start making money.

But hold on. You need to understand one concept: You got to be personal, be yourself, and blog freely from the keyword oriented traditional blogging that makes money. Just forget all about money for now. Your only focus is to be yourself on the blog.

There is one condition though. The main theme or subject of your domain will be something you truly love and can keep writing and providing content to your blog for a long time. The reason you need to write about something you’ve experienced and you have passion for is that you want to write without any fear of being right or wrong. You’re being yourself, that’s all. Write from the heart if you want to reach the heart of your readers. Just don’t post information you are not sure about because you might hurt someone or get hurt this way.

Now let’s take action on this basis and explain with the example how to apply this plan. And it starts with you and our passion. If you want this project to be a long term one then treat it as such.

Pick up a pencil and a blank sheet and write down the top 3 things you have passion for and have some knowledge about. This condition is in place to help you pick a subject you can write about every day all day without being bored or exhausted. You need to keep blogging about your subject for a long time.

If you need help on deciding what you are good at ask your friends and people you just started to know or deal with recently and get their impression about your abilities.

These are the top 3 issues that you can work with. No matter what you are going to write about, as long as you are going to be personal and write from the heart you are ok. And keep in mind that if you are interested in this issue them there might be a bunch of other people interested in the same thing.

The second step is to get yourself a blogger blog for free from Google. This will be your personal blog but with a personality of it’s own that goes with your audience.

I don’t really like it and would never do it myself because Google deleted one of my blogs before. In the process of trying to get it back I realized that I could have saved more money in terms of the hours I spent on the issue valued at the minimum wage if I started with my own domain hosted on my own. But for the sake of keeping this method 100% free I’ll stick to blogger. Just be warned that having your blog on blogger is risky. You could be at the top and making tons of money from it when Google decides to delete your blog because of a false spam detector or a complaint from a competitor. By the time you’ll get it back you would have lost your audience and would have to start allover. If you want to play it safe scroll down to the bottom of this page and get yourself a reliable hosting from the same company hosting this blog.

Write about anything and everything as long as you have passion for it there is a big chance that some other people in this world share your interests.

If you don’t have an adsense account apply from within your blogger from a tap called “monetize”. If you already have one use the same tap to insert Google Adsense codes in default places.

Please also note that a personal blog is more likely to be accepted in Google adsense program than any other blogs because you don’t seam to be planning on using it as an affiliate, which you are not.

After you start seeing traffic coming to your blog start writing about the buzz. Here is how to know:

Go to Google trends and you’ll see what people are searching for now on the Internet. If you have passion for a certain topic or keyword go ahead and write about it immediately.

To start sending traffic to your blog you are going to stay in the mode for a while, write some articles on this particular word or issue. From those articles link back to your original article. Start publishing those articles on the web over a period of a time. Such buzz words or subjects are not all going to be within your strength area. But that’s alright. You are not required to write about anything unless you can do it and know that you will enrich the Internet community with your articles and your personal opinion about what is going on around and share some of your wisdom with the world.

Since your posts are talking about the current buzz and the news, then it’s justified to use free press releases. These are able to show on the first page of search results and stay there for a while, long enough for your blog to start getting traffic.  After that use dig, stumbleupon, reditt, and delicious to bookmark your article.

Now about the articles that you’ll be using to market your blog, there is a difference here between what you post on your blog and what you write for publishing. On your blog you be yourself, but the marketing articles need to be in a formal language to get accepted for publishing. Also the well-written articles get picked up by other publishers and give your website the link juice that help with the ranking process.

The marketing articles can be linking to the corresponding page on your blog if you are rewriting your blog post. This is one way to go.

Another way is to write about something else that’s hot right now. Your author bio box can be just an introduction to the reader about yourself and a link to your blog. A well written article, especially if you are giving valuable information or a controversial point of view about a publish issue, the readers will want to learn more about you and will visit your website to do so.

As I said above and I repeat it here again, you want to give your readers something valuable to read (or watch). You are not trying to  sell anything or get them to take any action out of the ordinary. Just keep them coming by posting new posts and publishing new articles.

The best way to get exposure from article marketing is to submit your articles to ezinearticles.com. This article directory gets tons of traffic and you can get yourself some decent traffic directly from your bio box. The other advantage is that they are picky on what to allow for publications. That’s why they are the number one option for publishers who want some valuable material for their websites.

A lot of marketers differentiate between direct article marketing as a method of sending traffic straight to the website, and link building where you want to attract publishers to pick up your articles for republishing. For the purpose of this method don’t follow their advice.

Your goal is to provide value and get LOYAL visitors who will come back often. If you pitch them in your bio box to click on the link and visit your site most probably that will be their only visit to your site.

Of course your valuable content is one way to get their loyalty, but there are other things you can do. For example, make your posts highly controversial. This will please some of your readers and displease others. On the comment section they will start either upraising or insulting you, and that’s fine because they’ll soon forget about you and start arguing with each other, which means coming back every now and then to add to continue the conversation.

Another thing to do is to add a poll about this controversy and let them compete on who’s side has more supporters. Sometimes the readers will do the email marketing for you to get more votes to their cause.

Now let’s move on to the monetizing process

Google ads are the first option because they pay well. Google adwords are very expensive and are getting more expensive every minute due to the competition. Being on the advertiser side was a real pain in the you know what, but as an adsense publisher it’s all working to your advantage.

One way to go if you are using blogger is to let Google decide where to put their ads. They want to make money as much as you do, so they will display the ads where they think is profitable. That’s usually a side bar and a 300×250 box at the end of the post. You can also experiment with a leader board adsense widget on top of everything.

From my personal results, which could be just me, is that when the side bar with the ads is to the left it gets a higher click through rate. That’s because English language readers start from the left to the right and they spot the ads more quickly when they are at the beginning of their reading before they give their attention to your writing.

Also when you set up your adsene blocks keep it open to both image and text ads. Images work better for branding and this is what big corporations want. And they pay per 1000 impressions rather than clicks. Besides, if order for an image ad to take a full block that’s supposed to serve 3 more text ads, that image ads bid should exceed the next highest 3 bidders in order to take this spot. That means a higher revenue per click for you.

I hope this post isn’t too boring. I wrote it while half asleep, and when I woke up in the morning I found a lot of nonsense about learning how to cook and stuff. So if you find something odd like that please use the comment section below to tell me about it. When I have time later I promise to come back to it and revise it, or maybe organize it a little bit to make it easy to follow.

If you like this post please help spreading the word to your friends using the social share buttons to the left. Your comments are highly appreciated.

Simple Plan to Make Money Online

The only way to make money online is to control some traffic and monetized. This applies to any form of online business regardless of the business model or the market it targets. In this post I’ll explain a simple plan to make money online. It’s not for everyone, but if I were to start allover this is what I would do. If this plan works for me, it will certainly work with some others, and you might be one of them.

The idea is to invest on your passions, talents, experience, education, skills … whatever you are good at. No matter what it is, there are certainly some other people in the world who are interested in the same topic and have access to the Internet. The reason I am stressing on your own passion first before any keyword or market research is that I want you to start with something you can write about, and write a lot.

As I said above, the only way to make money online is to control the traffic. See what Google is doing? They buy anything they think will bring them more traffic, like youtube and admob. Then they’ll worry about how to monetize it.

So .. your job is to control some traffic related to the topic that you have chosen. And this is how to do it:

Go to Google keyword tool and search about keywords related to the broadest term about your niche. Here is the link to Google Keyword tool (See “how to promote just any product” post for how to use it):

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Find some keywords with high enough monthly search volume to deserve your efforts and search Google for these keywords. Shortlist your keywords based on the number of competing web pages.

Now you have some keywords to build a small website around. If you already have a hosting account, go to name cheap and buy a domain name that includes any of your keywords, and change the nameserver settings to be hosted by your hosting account. If not and you’ll need a hosting, go to hostgotor and buy a baby package with a 25% discount if you use the coupon at the top of this page.

With hostgator you can build a wordpress blog like this one with a few mouse clicks. If you have a 1and1 hosting like mine then you’ll need to go to wordpress.org and download the latest version, unzip it on your computer, go to your 1and1 account and create a new database for it, then change the wp-config-sample.php with the new database information and change the name to wp-config.php. Upload everything to your server using an FTP like filezilla, then visit your website and you’ll be asked to create a blog by entering the name of the blog and your user name. It will create a password for you to log in that you can change from inside.

If you can’t buy a hosting now you can start with a free Google blog (blogger.com). But this is a temporary solution because Google is deleting any blog that smells promotional. And there is no way to get it back. Once you start making money go to hostgator and buy your own hosting that no body can take from you.

Now it’s time to write: Write at least one page, or blog post, about each of the keywords in your list. Keep it within 500 words. Post them, then write a shorter version of each article and submit it to article directories like ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com with a link pointing to your website.

Your articles will take some time before publishing. Now you have to do two things before they go live:

1. Send an email to your personal contacts (friends and family) and ask them to visit your blog and give you a feed back.

2. Submit your RSS feed link to RSS directories like feedest.com (a bit slow these days).

The reason you need to do the above two steps before your articles go live is that you want search engines to index your website and detect some traffic before they can detect any links to your website. This is how it should go naturally.

From that point on, give your website 30-60 minutes a day to write a new post and a smaller version to submit to article directories. This is how you’ll grow your website and the free traffic machine.

That’s it, your done establishing your money machine. Now you might be asking, where is the money?

First of all, you’ll need to leave it un-monetized for a couple of weeks. After you start seeing traffic (use statcounter.com, it’s free and can tell you who came from where and did what on your site) it’s time to apply for Google adsense. Once approved grab your code and post it on your blog.

Blogger.com includes a built in adsense application process. Just click some links in the “monetize” tab. This is the fastest way to get approved for adsense. But your own website is also fine and I got approved in 24 hours. Just make sure your website content are unique (not copied).

This is going to be your main source of income. To maximize your earnings keep using Google keyword tool and find more expensive words to write about and include in your posts. Every time you post on your blog make a smaller version and post it to article directories.

If you want to add some more streams of income on the same site you can recommend products from an affiliate network like clickbank, Google affiliate network, Amazon, or any CPA network. Just make sure what you are recommending provides value to your readers.

Later on, you can start building a list by giving your visitors a gift (an ebook you wrote or have the give-away rights to) and send them emails every time you have a new post, and if you find a product that you can recommend to your readers with confidence and gives you commission all what you need to do is to write to your list about it.

How does that sound? Please leave your comments and/or questions below.

Make Money Online? Or Build A Business Online?

The Internet is the greatest media for earning huge amounts of money since as far as I can find in the history of economics. All forex, stock trading, auction sites, shopping malls, advertising agencies … you name it, are all operating online. So whether there is a possibility to make money online has not been a question since the late 1990s.

The real question becomes whether to just make money or build a long term business online?

How to make money online has been explained in hundreds and hundreds of ebooks, courses, coaching programs, membership sites, and even for free on blogs and Web 2.0 pages. It’s just a matter of picking up a system and sticking to it until you make the money you want.

Building a business, on the other hand, takes more than just learning a bunch of techniques and applying them. Building an online business, like any business, requires a vision, goals, a plan, resources management, and action to start this business and make it grow over time to achieve the desired goals.

What makes a difference between earning money online and building a business online is how you perceive it. The two might require the same activities and might result in the same thing, which is money, but one is taken as a hobby, and one is taken serious. The hobby might make you some money now, and make the same money a year later. A business, however, should not settle for just making the same amount of money. A business should be making 2X, 3X, 4X … of what it generated a year before because it should be growing.

What does that mean to you?

There are courses out there to teach you how to make money using all free tools available for every one on the Internet. Bum marketing and one week marketing are just examples. Those courses are great courses that are proven to work and many people are happy with their results. They are happy because they are making money.

They are making money, but not building a business. When you invest time and effort on putting content on someone else’s website because they allow you to do so and you use that to get people to click and buy through your affiliate link, when you do that you are leaving tons of money on the table and helping the owners of the sites you used to grow their virtual properties.

With the business mentality, you should be putting your content on your own website. Give your own domain more value by adding more content day after day instead of putting your content on someone else’s website. The more valuable content and back links you get to your site the more your sites value will grow. This is an asset that you can keep working for you and making you money, or you can sell it for a big some of cash if you need.

Also, funneling traffic to your affiliate product is not a good practice. You worked hard to get that traffic to click that link. Make sure you get those people to come back to you whenever you call them. Get their names and email

addresses and build your LIST. Your list is your most valuable asset that no body can take from you. Your list could be your virtual ATM machine. All what it takes when you need cash is to find a product and send an email to your list recommending this product. That’s it! Just send an email to your list.

I am not against such courses as one week marketing. In fact I highly recommend one week marketing for beginners until they learn how to build their own websites, capture their visitors’ contact information, and have money for all of that. The beauty of one week marketing is that you can start with $0 budge and make good money with it. But it’s just a phase.

After you have enough money to buy a domain name and hosting do it immediately. Build a niche site and change the links you’ve built with one week marketing campaigns to point to your own niche site instead of going directly to the sales page.

Once you have enough money to afford an auto responder do it without a delay and start building a list of your niche site visitors. Who doesn’t buy immediately on the site could buy a month down the road if you follow up with the proper email series.I have seen sales pages converting 7 times better with the follow up series vs. without.

Once you have these two (your site and your list) start buying traffic from search engines and other advertising platforms. This is the reliable source of traffic that you can buy more of. What you pay for is what you can build a business on. Organic traffic could disappear if search engines change their algorithms or if a competitor succeeds in kicking you out of your position. Paid for traffic, on the other hand, has to be delivered to you … or else.

Start making money online with one week marketing, article marketing, bum marketing, or whatever method of marketing you like. But once you have the ability to establish a business on solid foundations of virtual real estate (your website and your list) and reliable sources of traffic, don’t wait a minute.

And remember this: The more you wait the harder it will get for you to do it because every day hundreds and thousands of people start online businesses in all kinds of niches. The more you wait the less niches will be available and the harder the competition will be.
